Finding Purpose and Joy

Are you grappling with the question of your life’s purpose? I certainly was. It has been a journey filled with twists, turns, and reinventions to reach the point where I finally feel like I’m living my true purpose. At one point, I introduced myself as Harvey Jones’s daughter, Riley Jones’s sister, Paul Gurley’s wife, and a PR professional in the corporate world. There were two times when I experienced an identity crisis in my life—one when my husband passed away and the other when my career ended at the age of 60.  I found myself without a job and, more importantly, a clear sense of self and purpose.

I knew I had potentially another two decades ahead of me, and the thought of traditional retirement was unappealing. The idea of spending time in a rocking chair, watching TV, and munching on chips didn’t resonate with how I wanted to spend my later years.

My identity had been intricately linked with my career for most of my life. However, I firmly believe in the empowering notion that “life truly begins at 60.” This age represents a remarkable opportunity for rebirth, a chance to explore life’s profound meaning, treasure each moment, and build a legacy that will resonate through generations.

I was determined to make my life count for something more. I yearned for a legacy beyond being the wife of remarkable men and having a successful career. Since I didn’t have children, I knew my legacy would be what I could give back to others. Whether through my writing, coaching, photography, or culinary skills, I aspired to lead a purposeful life and inspire women to make the “autumn” of their lives the best years they’ve ever had.

As I live each day with enthusiasm and a zest for life, I aim to inspire my peers and future generations to lead lives brimming with meaning and purpose.

My age has endowed me with rich experiences and a clear perspective, and it’s my privilege to share this wisdom with the world.

Life at 60 isn’t just an age; it’s a mindset that embraces every moment with positivity and passion. It’s about creating meaningful experiences and sharing them, inspiring others to do the same. Join me in this beautiful journey of self-discovery and fulfillment, as together, we prove that life truly begins at 60.
