Journey to Inspire
Finding Strength in My Story
Sitting down to reflect on the chapters of my life, I think about challenges I’ve faced. More importantly, I think about the steps I took to overcome those challenges, move forward, and thrive.
From confronting depression and overcoming obesity to navigating the complex emotions of grief and battling addiction, my journey mirrors a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Initially hesitant to share these personal experiences, I’ve realized their power – not as mere recollections but as beacons of hope and resilience for others.
My therapist told me many times, “Your story could be someone’s survival guide.” For years, while still working, I was quiet about my alcohol recovery. It still carries a stigma and some of the executives I worked for were judgmental and might have no longer trusted my advice. I promised him when I left the corporate world, I’d be more open about my struggle with addiction.
The point to article is:
What stories in your life can you share that would be an inspiration to others? Is there a story of survival you want your grandchildren to know? What in your life can you use to help others on their journey? Part of finding your life’s purpose should include lifting others up and helping them on their journey. Do you agree?
